Solar Inspectors Hawaii was founded by Ron & Rhonda Hooson, with the goal of bringing consistent National Electrical Code standards island-wide, in a time-efficient and cost effective system to the Photovoltaic Industry - proudly delivered with a smile.

Our dedicated Technical Team is headed by Ron Hooson. Ron has been a Licensed Electrician in five states dating back to 1973 and became a Licensed Master Electrician in the state of Colorado. He has been a Licensed Electrical Contractor since 1996. He served his Apprenticeship with The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, studied Electrical Theory for four years at Gateway Technical College and started his Environmental Conservation pursuits wiring an off-grid home back in 1978.



Since Hawaii doesn't have the Master Electrician License designation, Ron took nearly every electrical license exam offered in Hawaii in 2006, and passed each one including Supervising Electrician, Journey Worker Electrician, Supervising Industrial Electrician, Supervising Specialty

As a Master Electrician with over 40 years of Energy Management experience, Ron has proven that he can handle any Electrical inspection opportunity. 

Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, Contractor and Electrical Contractor C13.

A Hawaii DCCA employee told him that he is the "most tested and licensed person in the State".

​Ron has Designed and Supervised the installation of over 700 Energy Management Systems and/or Alternative Energy Systems for organizations like Honeywell (Energy Center One, a 31 story building), Safeway (750,000 sq ft building), Frito Lay (350,000 sq ft building), The University Of Colorado (1.5 sq mile facility), The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Wind Research Facility Test Center, The National Bureau of Standards, The United States Mint, Conergy's Largest North American PV Installation (at the time) and one of the top ten largest PV Installs on Oahu to mention just a few.

Ron's designs and installation techniques are included in several equipment manufacturers' training and installation manuals. He has spent many years in various positions in our industry including Electrical Contractor, Director of Technology, Director of Quality Control, Superintendent, Chief Designer, and now he is a DPP Approved Special Inspector able to perform inspections of your projects.
